Winch Out Service

Winch Out Roadside Assistance

A winch out service is when a tow truck is used to pull a vehicle because it is stuck.  This could be in mud, sand, a ditch, snow, or any other environment that causes your vehicle to become immobile. In order to complete a winch out, your vehicle cannot be more than 100’ from a surface that is paved as they can be only done from an area that is “reasonably accessible.” Luckily, Allentown Towing Company has all of the necessary tools to help you out of your tight spot.

When in need of a winch out service, we will need to know several things.  The vehicle’s present location, what caused the situation, your current location (including the address if you know it), and approximately how much your vehicle weighs.

Additionally, it is also helpful to know if you had to leave your car behind, how far your car is from a paved surface, and if any of your tires are still on the road.

A winch out is also different from a recovery. The purpose of a winch out is to bring a car back to a position so the owner can drive it again. If a car is in need of a recovery, that means that it has been damaged and is in need of repairs before it can be driven again.

It is possible that you can get your car out without needing a winch out, but depending on the situation, it could be very difficult.

One of the best methods of trying is by putting your vehicle in a low gear and gently moving it backwards and forwards. It is also helpful to place something underneath your tires that will help you create traction (such as smaller tree branches or your car floor mats). You should never spin the tires of your car as it will only make the problem worse. If your vehicle is still stuck after trying this, please give us a call and we’ll come and help.
